About

Software decisions shouldn't cost you a month of research.

BIM•STACK exists because I kept fielding the same question from other architects and engineers: "what software should I actually use for this?"

The Bigger Picture

From paper to AI: the biggest transition in the history of design

The AEC industry rarely experiences moments of true disruption. Many professionals lived through the shift from paper to CAD. Others lived through the shift from CAD to BIM. Today, we're all in the middle of the most profound transition of all — from BIM to AI. Each of these shifts transformed entire careers, and the people who adapted early came out ahead.

01

How it all started

BIM•STACK was born from personal curiosity and a simple question: what is the best tool, software or solution for project design that exists today? After a lot of research, testing and comparing, I came to an honest conclusion — there is no single answer. There's a variety of answers, and the best choice depends on your project, your workflow and the stage of your firm. That insight became this site: an independent directory where you can compare the leading architecture, BIM, construction and AI tools all in one place.

02

Why this moment is unique

Many of the tools listed here already dominate much of the industry. But with every passing day, as AI and AI-assisted design advance, new doors open — and with them come real business opportunities. In my view, the future of project development won't be limited to using AI to assist the professional, but will move toward near-complete automation of project development by AI, integrated with smaller support systems for specific, complex tasks. The major players already see it, which is why M&A in AEC software is heating up — and it's making this the most exciting moment the industry has seen in years.

03

My suggestion to you

Seize this moment. Get to know, test and adopt these new technologies — they're only at the beginning of their journey, and whoever learns to use them now will have a real advantage.

BIM•STACK exists to help you decide which path to follow. Explore the directory, compare the tools, and if you have questions about a particular solution, talk to me. I've been through this journey of discovery myself, and I'd be happy to help you with yours.

What I'm trying to do differently

Most software directories are built to sell placement, not to help you choose. I'd rather this one be useful.

$

Real prices, not guesses

Every price is pulled from the vendor's own site. When there isn't a public price, the listing says "Contact Sales" — never a made-up number.

★

No fake ratings

Star ratings only show once real users have actually left them. No inflated scores to make a page look more finished than it is.

Built for AEC, by AEC

I work in this industry. The categories, comparisons and "consider alternatives if" notes come from actually using this stuff, not a marketing brief.

I'm an architect with a degree in Systems Analysis as well, and I've spent more than 15 years working in the AEC industry. Like most people here, I've lost hours to software research — reading vague marketing pages, digging for a real price behind a "Contact Sales" button, or trying a tool for a week only to realize it wasn't built for how our projects actually work.

This site is for architects, engineers, contractors, BIM managers and anyone else in AEC trying to figure out which tool is worth the subscription — whether that's a full BIM platform, a rendering engine, or one of the AI tools that seem to launch every month now.
